The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is a national non-profit professional association designed to promote, recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements in the Canadian film and television industries.
Created in 1979, and today unifying over 3,500 industry professionals across Canada, the Academy has proven to be a vital and integral force representing all areas of the film and television.
The CFTPA's mission is to create the most favorable national and international environment for our industry and culture to prosper.
We attempt to understand and represent our industry's interests through balanced representation, dialogue and negotiation with our members and key stakeholders; including governments, labour, investors, other industries, advocates, audiences and the general public.
The Directors Guild of Canada, B.C. District Council (BCDC) represents the key creative and logistical personnel in the film and television industry in British Columbia. The BCDC Collective Agreement covers the categories of Director, 2nd Unit Director, Production & Unit Manager, plus those employed in the various Assistant Director and Locations Departments.
ACFC West - The Association of Canadian Film Craftspeople, Local 2020 Communications, Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada is a technical film union recognized by the Labour Board of British Columbia. We began as an association of freelance film technicians who were unified in their need for protection and endorsement while working in the film industry.
We are focused on creating the best working conditions for our membership. Today, we are a strong Canadian union made up of quality, experienced craftspeople where our expertise in 23 departments make ACFC West, Local 2020 CEP your best choice.
Created in 1978 with a mandate to market the services of B.C. production, post-production and ancillary service companies to the international film and television industry, and to promote the province as a filming location.
British Columbia Film was established by the provincial government in 1987 as a privately managed, non-profit society to administer funding intended to expand and diversify the cultural industries of independent film and video production in British Columbia.
